Houston and cities across Texas are experiencing some of their worst flooding in years. In fact, the severe storms and flooding have created dangerous and frustrating traffic congestion and have made many local roadways impassable.

• Storms and Flooding have shut down many roads and highways across the region, and have made sections of Interstate 10 come to a standstill. Flooding in some areas has been measured in several feet. Many roadway lanes are underwater and many properties have been damaged.
• Harris County Flood District has advised local residents to avoid leaving their homes Tuesday, and many school districts have announced closures. Governor Gregg Abbot has declared disasters in 37 counties across the state.
• At least three people have died as a result of heavy rains and flooding. One victim was found in a car in Southwest Houston and another was pilled from a watershed in Southwest Harris County. Several other people remain missing and search and rescue crews are continuing their efforts.
• Emergency crews have dedicated hours to helping drivers stranded on severely flooded roads.

Given the severity of current conditions, officials are strongly encouraging everyone to stay home if possible. Severe rains and flooding have created tremendously dangerous conditions outside, and everyone is urged to do what they can to avoid these risks.
