A bus headed for San Luis Potosi, Mexico collided with a truck in Fort Bend County on Wednesday evening, sending at least seven passengers to the hospital with injuries. While the accident is still under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety, initial information has revealed that the bus broke an axle at around 7:00 P.M. along the southbound lanes of U.S. 59 and FM 360, south of Beasley, causing it to collide with a tractor-trailer.
Victims were forced to climb from the emergency windows to escape from the bus. According to investigators, the driver tried to pass the truck on the highway when he noticed something strange with the bus. He then lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the back end of the truck.
The bus was operated by Houston-based Los Chaves Autobuses, which has had three crashes since 2015. DPS investigators say that it is likely that the driver of the bus will be cited.
