Michael was raised in DeWitt County, Texas, where he grew up working on the ranch and in the oilfields. After receiving a B.A. in Spanish and an M.A. in Political Science, he worked for some time in Mexico City as a translator, where he gained a strong command of the Spanish language. After some time, he later returned to the United States to work in oil and gas once again. He enjoyed operating heavy machinery, driving tractor trailers, and working outside. After the oil bust of 2014, Michael decided to make a career change where he could use his love of reading, thinking, and writing to help others who need a hand. When he is not working, he can be found outdoors, working on cars, and enjoying time with friends and family.
