Attorney John Daspit grew up in Texas before going to college at the University of Texas at Austin, where he received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Accounting. After college, John returned home to go to law school at the University of Houston.
After receiving his law degree, John spent many years working for Fulbright & Jaworski, one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the country, before founding his own firm.

- Represented an oil and gas company seeking damages based on defective ERW pipe used in the building a 455 mile-long oil pipeline. The case settled the week before trial for $20.2 million. Attorney's fees and expenses totaled $4.362 million.
- Represented a production and exploration company in an arbitration related to the interpretation of an area of mutual interest (AMI) provision. The other party demanded conveyance of the property interest or damages of $330 million. Attorney's fees and expenses for this case totaled $2.136 million.
